From the wife who discovered she married her cousin to the daughter who realized her late father had been swapped at birth, here Dailymail.com rounds up the most jaw-dropping family surprises to come from tracing your roots.

Questioning his client, defence barrister Martin Liddiard asked Sillett: ‘At any age, at any point… did you do anything that could be described as something like that [sexual]?’.
    Sillett replied ‘no’.

Biden is also proposing to raise taxes on those earning more than $400,000 a year to ensure that Medicare — the hugely popular, but increasingly strained government health insurance system for people over 65 — remain

Sillett claims his coaching successes include ‘training riders to Olympic level, riders who went on to form part of the British Showjumping GB Junior Team, numerous riders who have represented their country internationally and riders who frequently compete at the finals of the National School Equestrian Association’.

But there may be a darker reason for the growing interest: a harrowing documentary recently laid bare the damaging health consequences of incestuous families through the eyes of the deformed, inbred Whittaker family in West Virginia.

‘If you’re in a small town that hasn’t seen new retail in a long time, you see new development, a new yellow sign, there’s something intangible and positive about having that new development,’ he told DailyMail.com in a phone interview.

The median household income in Olive Hill is $49,688 – lower than the statewide figure of $55,573, but higher than is generally found in the surrounding rural parts of Carter County, where the town is located.

I promise you: I see you,” Biden said, addressing blue collar voters in language that echoed his Republican predecessor Don “Too many people have been left behind and treated like they’re invisible.

Kim Adkins, a single mom with two school-age kids at home, said she has to drive to Morehead to find her preferred mayonnaise brand, Duke’s, or the spice mix she uses to make her family’s secret potato salad recipe.

Republicans say the ever-growing federal debt points to the need for slashing spending, but Democrats say Republicans are using the issue as a way to weaken Medicare and other long-popular programs, while shielding the rich f

Merrett, the Western Illinois University academic, agreed that in some cases, a new dollar store can be a boon to rural areas where local businesses have shuttered, and residents have few or no retail options.

Two other Dollar Generals on the outskirts of Olive Hill also offer fresh produce, though on a recent visit by DailyMail.com, one produce section was poorly stocked, and the other had been cleared out while the cooler was down for repairs.

The hamlet’s downtown features rows of shuttered businesses that speak to better days, but a spark of economic life remains, with several local restaurants, a hardware store, and florist and boutique shops dotting the small commercial district.

‘I do think alcohol sales have something to do with it,’ Wells told DailyMail.com of the concentration of dollar stores in Olive Hill. ‘It’s a great place to sell alcohol for people going out to camp’ at nearby Carter Caves State Park, he added.

In fact, residents of Olive Hill jokingly refer to the Dollar General closest to downtown as the ‘Olive Hill Walmart’ due to its wide variety of goods, including a small produce section stocked with fruits and vegetables.

Today, without a major industry to anchor the local economy, a quarter of workers in Olive Hill commute to another county for their jobs, and 7% work outside of Kentucky entirely, according to Census data from the latest American Community Survey.

‘Our produce set offers the top 20 items typically sold in traditional grocery stores and covers approximately 80 percent of produce categories most grocery stores carry, including tomatoes, onions, apples, strawberries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lemons, limes, salad mixes, and more,’ a Dollar General spokesperson said in a statement.

In recent years, Dollar General has expanded its grocery footprint in many small towns with an expanded store concept called DG Market, a miniature grocery offering fresh produce and meats in addition to packaged goods.

But critics fear that the convenience and affordability of food at dollar stores is offset by health concerns about their food offerings, which skew toward high-calorie, ultra-processed packaged foods.

Merrett said that as Walmart expanded across the country in the 1980s and 90s, many family-owed stores in smaller surrounding towns were not able to adapt, and shut down. ‘In many rural places that used to have a grocery store, they lost that grocery store,’ he said.
