Trailrider Days

Strathcona Wilderness Institute, in conjunction with BC Parks, would like to invite members of your group to participate in one of our TRAILRIDER DAYS this summer to promote Strathcona Provincial Park’s ease of access for all people. On those days we would like to showcase the TrailRider (plus wheelchairs) we have for public use in the Forbidden Plateau area.
The venue will be the Strathcona Park Wilderness Centre at the Paradise Meadows Trailhead (located next to the Raven Lodge, Nordic Way on Mt Washington).
The dates are:
TrailRider Day 1 in Strathcona Provincial Park:
Sun. July 24th, 10 am onwards
TrailRider Day 2 in Strathcona Provincial Park:
Sat. August 20th 10 am onwards
TrailRider Day 3 in Strathcona Provincial Park:
Sun. September 25th 10 am onwards
The day can include short interpretive tours around the 2km barrier-free Centennial loop in Paradise Meadows guided by naturalists, or longer excursions up to Battleship Lake, 3km one way, where participants can enjoy views of the lake from the fishing dock. The day-use area also has picnic tables and a TrailRider accessible toilet. Or if your “Rider” would like a more challenging 9 km loop, the Battleship Lake/Helen Mackenzie Lake circuit can be done.
This is a first notice. As we have much to plan, we would appreciate you letting us know in advance if any members of your group are interested in participating and bringing your TrailRider(s) to our events. To pre-register, please go to the Events page on our Website to complete our online form: https://strathconapark.org/swi-events/ We can then send you our full registration form. We are hoping that your group will be able to share this opportunity with interested “Riders” and volunteer Sherpas to experience Strathcona Park in a fun and safe way, while bringing more attention Strathcona’s trails and use of the TrailRider.
