OneAbility Education Day

This virtual session will provide educators, recreation leaders and sport leaders with the tools, supports, and motivation to create accessible spaces and programs. This learning morning will provide opportunities to support the return to inclusive and accessible play for all abilities!

DR. KELLY ARBOUR-NICITOPOULOS 

 

Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education and an Advisory Member of the Mental Health and Physical Activity Research Centre at the University of Toronto. 

Co-Director of Knowledge Mobilization for the Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability. 

JENNIFER LEO, PHD  

 

Director of The Steadward Centre for Personal & Physical Achievement in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta. She is part of the Family Engaged Sport & Exercise Team in the Canadian Disability Participation Project, serves as a Co-Chair of Knowledge Mobilization with the Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability. 

THOMAS SOULLIERE 

 

Director of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities for the City of Victoria and serves on the Board of Directors for Wheelchair Basketball Canada. 

MARNI ABBOTT-PETER 

 

Director of the Let’s Play program for the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society. Her main focus is on physical literacy and providing opportunities for children with disabilities in BC. 

CARINNA KENIGSBERG 

 

Director of Programs and Impact at Power To Be: a charity in Victoria and Vancouver that supports people with disabilities to access nature through recreation, health and wellness, and community collaborations.

UNSTOPPABLE TRACY SCHMITT  

 

The first four-way amputee to climb the Himalaya Mountains, a Canada’s Hall of Fame inductee. She’s also known for sailing against able-bodied men, scuba diving, and being a bronze medalist alpine skier. A highly decorated business leader, motivational speaker, author, and athlete.
